“BD Barcelona Design has always been an atypical company since its origins in the 1970’s. Its founders come from an architectural background rather than the business field, have oriented BD’s production from the very start by cultivating beauty characterized by superior quality, short-series productions, artisanal processes instead of mass production.”
A very good match for another atypical design profile like Stephen Burks Man Made. The designer has a special feeling for a human touch of the design process, humor and genuine approach. Grasso collection presented this year in Milan raised a big interest and press coverage – I chose several locations for revealing the true nature of the Grasso armchair – one residential and sophisticated Barcelones Example apartment, and another what we see here is an old warehouse converted to the co-working space for creatives – to show this sincere character of the collection – it is a bit funny, ironic, chubby = imperfect and very genuine.
The photography included other furniture of BD collection brought together by Jaime Hayon, Konstantin Grcic, Farge&Blanche. The ambition of the whole photography direction done for BD this year was to dismiss a perception of that BD pieces are the free-standing pieces with the strong character. Many times we heard “you can not furnish a space with BD”… Meaning they are so unique. No doubt they are, as well as the places featuring them, and people attracted to them. Unique and individual.
